The Funnel widget can be used for a wide variety of business purposes, including application management, click management, pipeline analyses for sales forecasts, and sales process analysis. The widget is a variation of a stacked percent bar chart that displays data that adds up to 100%.

Therefore, it can allow analysts to visualize the percent contribution of sales data or the stages in a sales process and reveal the amount of potential revenue for each stage. When the widget is used to analyze a sales process, analysts can use the widget to drill down to key metrics such as deal size, profit potential, and probability of closing. The widget can also be used to identify potential problem areas in an organization’s sales processes.
To create a Funnel widget
Add the widget to a document in Web
Open the document in Design or Editable Mode.
From the Insert menu, point to Widgets, and then select Funnel.
Click the location on your document, except for in the Detail section, where you want to place the widget. The widget template, which appears similar to a standard grid container, is displayed. A small icon at the bottom right corner of the widget template identifies the type of widget you have added to the document.
If desired, resize the widget by clicking and dragging its handles.
Add objects to the widget template
From the Dataset Objects panel on the left, select attributes and metrics, and drag them on top of the widget, as described below.
Place at least one attribute on the widget template's rows.
The attributes are displayed as separate sections in the widget.
Place at least one metric on the widget template’s columns.
The size of each section of the widget is determined by the values of the metric.
View the widget in Flash Mode
To view and interact with the widget, switch to Flash Mode by selecting Flash Mode from the View menu.
Note: If Flash Mode is not available in the View menu, you must make Flash Mode available for this document.
Modify the Funnel widget
In Flash Mode, right-click the widget heading and select Properties. The Funnel widget dialog box opens. These are the options:
Show series labels: The Funnel widget is color-coded. Each color represents a different set of data. The Show series labels option displays what each colored section represents -- for example, a customer region, like the Northeast.
Show series values: Each color in the Funnel widget represents a different set of data. The Show series values option displays the value -- for example, revenue -- of each colored section.
Labels position: Determine whether you want the series labels to display inside or outside of the widget.
Values position: Determine whether you want the values labels to display inside or outside of the widget.
Resizable legend area: Determine whether you can change the size of the legend area. If your widget has a lot of items on it, then you might want to expand the legend area so that you can read all of the text in the legend.
Funnel layer minimum height: Determine the size for each funnel section. You can size the colored funnel sections from 0 to 100, 0 being the smallest, and 100 being the largest.
Inherit graph formatting: This options allows you to select whether the widget values -- the percentage or currency, for example -- display in the same format as they do in the graph from which they were added to the widget.
Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog box.
To use the widget as a selector
In Design or Editable Mode, do one of the following:
Right-click the attribute, custom group, or consolidation in the Grid/Graph to use as the selector, and choose Edit Selector. The Configure Selector dialog box opens.
Right-click the Metrics column in the Grid/Graph, and choose Edit Selector. The Configure Selector dialog box opens.
Select the target Grid/Graph or panel stack in the list of available targets on the left. Click > to add it to the list of selected targets on the right. You can select multiple targets.
The attribute, custom group, or consolidation you selected in the Grid/Graph is the source, and the selected Grid/Graph is the target. The Action Type of the selector is set the Select Element.
To ensure that the user can select more than one element in the widget, select the Show option for All check box.
To ensure that the element displayed in the selector changes if an element is chosen in another selector, select Allow selection to be updated by other selectors.
Click OK to apply the changes and return to the document.
